Ashleigh is getting her face surgery tomorrow. I think it’s going to go something like this:
In the meantime, I’ll be drinkin’ for two!
Great Divide Hibernation Ale looks like a hazy tea; bronze/burgundy, leaving behind no lacing. And the aroma is soooo good. Too good… A mix of dark fruits and chocolate, it legit smells like a candy bar. Sorry for using the word ‘legit’. IT’S THAT GOOD. Really, one of the best smelling beers I’ve come across.
The taste is heavy on the toasted malts, ester alcohol and a sourness that is nicely balanced out by the hops. They don’t give a whole lot of hop flavor until the very end though, where they appear in a light earthiness.
Finishing with a complex mix of sweet, sour and bitter, Hibernation lingers on for a minute or so. It’s 8.7% alc/vol is also very well-hidden. I was really surprised how smooth this beer goes down. It’s almost like a thin barleywine. I think it could have been an A+ beer if it was a little heavier. But being so ridiculously flavorful, I give it an A-. Hibernation Ale is the perfect winter warmer.
Ok. Got my post in. Time to go BOWLING.
