140. Atlantic Brewing Company Ellen’s Coffee Stout – Guest Post from If My Coaster Could Talk

Ellens Coffee Stout

This stout sounds great. Thanks to Chad from If My Coaster Could Talk for the review! Check out his blog for more beer reviews and Maine beer events.

Name: Ellen’s Coffee Stout
Brewed by: Atlantic Brewing Company
ABV: 5.4%
Style: Stout brewed with vanilla and coffee

Pours black with a creamy khaki colored head, when held to the light, the beer takes on a deep crimson hue.

The first thing I pick up in the smell is the coffee, dark roasted grains, no vanilla or hops to speak of.

The coffee is prominent in the flavor. It’s incredibly smooth, though no harsh bitter flavors. The vanilla is a secondary flavor, but compliments the coffee quite well. This coffee stout has a medium to full body and a creamy mouthfeel; finishes a touch sweet with vanilla-coffee aftertaste.

Overall, a flavorful stout that’s everything it’s advertised to be. Fans of coffee and stouts will love this beer, and as a side note, it paired quite well with a slice of apple pie and vanilla ice cream.
