150. Rhode Island Beer Book

Ashleigh and I started this website in 2011 mainly as a way to keep track of all the beers we were drinking as we started to venture into the world of craft beer, as well as a way to keep our writing skills sharp. We had both graduated with degrees in writing, but instead found ourselves working whatever jobs we could find.

Cut to present day; we’ve worked our fair share of jobs in the meantime – journalist, cook, bartender, office work, freelancing, marketing, all the while, spending our free time maintaining Two Girls, One Beer and trying to hone in on a more local beer community. We’ve lived all across New England, but our attention is now on Rhode Island. I (Kristie) live here and am fascinated by the beer history, as well as the current expansion and passionate people I’ve met, in a state largely unknown for its beer.

So it is with great excitement that I announce that Ashleigh and I have signed with the History Press to write Rhode Island Beer, which will serve as the only book on the current state of beer in the Ocean State. This book will join the leagues of other books in the American Palate series on beer including Austin Beer: Capitol City History on Tap by the women at Bitchbeer.org, Maine Beer: Brewing in Vacationland by Josh Christie, as well as New Hampshire Beer which is being written by Brian Aldrich and Mike Meredith of Seacoast Beverage Lab.

We are in the beginning stages of this project and are open to ideas as to what you’d like to see in a beer book. What do you like and what would you like to see that hasn’t been done before? Contact us at twogirlsonebeerblog@gmail.com with any suggestions you have! Also be sure to follow along with the book’s progress on our Facebook page, as well as with the Instagram hashtag #ribeerbook

Cheers!
